It all started at a teashop in Cambridge.
A woman sat down at the table opposite him,
And looked him in they eye.
He would have preferred it
If she had looked him in the ear.
She had a penetrating stare
As if she was an extraterrestrial hired to work
On remote viewing at the science park.
He pretended not to notice
And carried on reading his newspaper.
A little later, he looked up again.
Her eyes were waiting for him.
They were on a plate.
But the rest of her had gone.
